  • Employee spend limits prevent overspending
  • Guest/visitor ride booking without app installation
  • Now covers employee meals (Bolt Food) plus transport and car rental

  • Work Profile requires employees to manually switch modes (not fully automatic)

Bolt Business: The Honest Take

Bolt Business (now branded Bolt for Business) isn’t a fleet management tool. It won’t help you buy cars, assign license plates, or track vehicle maintenance. Instead, it does one thing very well: it turns Bolt’s ride-hailing and mobility app into a corporate travel and expense solution.

Think of it as the bridge between “my employee needs a ride to the airport” and “our finance team has a single line item for all business transport (and now employee meals) this month.”

Here’s everything you need to know before deciding if it’s right for your company — including the straight answer on whether Bolt Business has an API and how ready it actually is for AI agents.

What Is Bolt Business?

Bolt is an Estonian mobility company operating across Europe (and beyond). Their consumer app lets you book rides, rent scooters, order food, and rent cars. Bolt for Business layers a management platform on top of that ecosystem, giving companies the ability to:

  • Centralize billing across all employee rides and eligible meal orders
  • Set spending limits per employee or department
  • Book rides for non-employees (clients, candidates, visitors)
  • Generate automatic expense reports through the Work Profile feature

As of 2026, Bolt reports 70,000+ companies use Bolt for Business. It’s not a full-scale corporate travel platform like Concur or TravelPerk — but if your company just needs ground transport (and now meals) managed, it’s simpler and cheaper than those behemoths.

Key Features That Matter

1. Centralized Billing

Every ride taken under your business account gets grouped into a single monthly invoice. No more employees submitting receipts for a €12 ride to a client meeting. Finance gets one bill, everyone stays sane.

2. Employee Spending Limits

You can organize employees into groups and set per-group or per-employee spend limits. Need to cap interns at €50/month while letting senior consultants ride freely? You can do that. Limits are enforced automatically.

3. The Ride Booker (Guest Bookings)

This is genuinely useful and underrated. You can book rides for people who don’t have the Bolt app. Send them an SMS, they get picked up, you pay. Perfect for:

  • Airport pickups for visiting clients
  • Candidate rides for in-person interviews
  • Getting a delivery partner from the train station
  • Courtesy rides for event attendees

Guests don’t need to download anything. You handle it through a clean web interface.

4. CarbonNeutral Rides

Bolt offsets the carbon emissions of all rides booked through Business Accounts. Scooters and e-bikes are certified CarbonNeutral by default. If your company has ESG goals or sustainability reporting to do, this is a tangible contribution rather than aspirational language.

5. Multiple Transport Modes (Plus Employee Meals)

Bolt for Business has expanded beyond rides. Depending on availability in each city, your team can also book:

  • E-scooters and e-bikes for short trips
  • Car rentals through Bolt’s rental partners
  • Employee meals via Bolt Food under the business account (newer capability)

The current marketing positions it as “manage work travel and meals in one place.” Earlier reviews claimed Bolt Food wasn’t covered under business billing — that’s now outdated. One platform, multiple use cases.

6. Work Profile with Automated Expense Reports

Employees can enable a Work Profile in their Bolt app. When in Work Profile mode:

  • Rides are billed to the company, not their personal card
  • Company details appear on every receipt
  • Receipts are automatically emailed or sent to integrated expense providers
  • Personal rides stay on their personal account

The catch: employees have to manually switch between personal and work modes. It’s not location-triggered or calendar-driven.

7. Flight Tracking and Scheduled Rides

Bolt for Business adds flight-tracking (automatic pickup timing around inbound flights) and the ability to schedule rides in advance — useful for airport transfers and calendar-driven travel.

Does Bolt Business Have an API?

Short answer: yes, but it’s partner-gated — not a public, self-serve API.

Here’s what we verified directly (August 2026):

  • Bolt has an official developer portal at developer.bolt.eu that documents a Business API (/docs/business-api) alongside a Bolt Food / Stores API. So there IS a documented API for the business/mobility side.
  • However, it is not open-access. The developer portal’s spec is served to authenticated/partner sessions — the public-facing documentation renders an error (“Something went wrong”) and the raw OpenAPI spec is not served to unauthenticated visitors. There is no open “get an API key” signup like you’d get from Stripe, Twilio, or even many SaaS tools.
  • The older public Bolt Mobility API portal (developers.bolt.eu) no longer resolves — Bolt has tightened public API exposure over time.

What this means in practice: If you’re a Bolt Business customer, the primary machine interface today is the Work Profile + email receipt / expense-provider export, not a programmatic API you can call yourself. Zapier or manual CSV/email handling fills the gap for most teams. Bolt’s own public product page does not advertise an API for end customers.

Important — not the other Bolt: There are two unrelated companies called “Bolt.” bolt.eu (Bolt / Bolt Business) is the Estonian mobility company covered here. bolt.com is a separate US payments/checkout company that markets an “agent-ready checkout” with an MCP server and llms.txt. That agent-readiness infrastructure belongs to bolt.com, NOT to Bolt Business. Don’t let the two get conflated — the “Bolt” with APIs and agent plugins is the payments company, not the ride-hailing one.

AI & Agent Readiness: The Straight Story

We score every tool out of 7 on how well an AI agent could actually integrate with it. Bolt Business scores 2/7 — it has the skeleton of an API story, but nothing about it is agent-first today.

Agent-Readiness CriterionStatus
MCP ServerNo official MCP server (bolteu GitHub org has no SDK/MCP repos)
OKF BundleNo bundle on BundleDex
Cross-platform skillsNone found (no Claude/GPT/Gemini skills)
API accessPartner-gated only (documented Business API, no public key signup)
WebhooksNot publicly documented
Docs qualityDeveloper portal exists but spec is auth-gated and currently errors on load
Auth simplicityNot applicable (no self-serve access path)

What this means for you:

  • An AI agent cannot autonomously sign up and start calling Bolt Business today. No open API keys, no webhooks, no MCP server. Any “Bolt Business automation” an agent does today goes through the human’s email/Zapier/manual export, not a direct API call.
  • For finance/expense automation specifically: Bolt Business integrates with a limited set of expense tools (e.g. Zoho, email receipts) but not natively with Concur, SAP, or Coupa. If you need agent-driven expense reconciliation, you’ll be bolting on Zapier or your own scraper.
  • The good news: the existence of a documented Business API on Bolt’s developer portal means an official programmatic path could open up. But as of August 2026 it is partner-gated and not ready for autonomous agent use.

Score rationale: A 0 would mean no API at all. Bolt Business gets partial credit because a real (if gated) Business API and developer portal exist. But with no MCP, no OKF bundle, no skills, no webhooks, and no self-serve access, it can’t be considered agent-ready — hence a weak 2/7.

What Bolt Business Doesn’t Do

Let’s be upfront about what’s missing, because the gap between what Bolt offers and what enterprise travel platforms offer is real:

FeatureBolt BusinessEnterprise Solutions
Expense provider integrationsLimited (Zoho, email receipts)Concur, SAP, Coupa native
Flight + hotel bookingPartial (flight tracking, no booking)Yes
Multi-currency invoicingLimitedYes
Approval workflowsBasicAdvanced
Global coverage (non-EU)NoneYes
Fleet/vehicle managementNo (it’s not a fleet tool)Yes
Public self-serve APINo (partner-gated)Often yes

If you’re a global enterprise already invested in SAP Concur or a similar system, Bolt Business works best as a supplement — handling last-minute ground transport and meals — rather than a replacement.

If you’re a startup or SME with no existing travel management setup, Bolt Business is probably all you need.

Pricing — It’s Cheaper Than You Think

There’s no subscription fee. No setup cost. No minimum commitment. Bolt Business charges you pay-per-ride, and you get a monthly invoice for everything your team generates.

The only pricing uncertainty is the per-ride rate, which follows Bolt’s standard market pricing — same rates regular Bolt users pay. Business accounts don’t get discounted rides beyond any active promotions.

Note on promos: Bolt periodically runs signup promotions for new Business Accounts (historically around 25% off early rides, capped). Promotional terms have changed in the past (expiry dates, caps, country restrictions). Always verify the current terms in the Bolt app after signup — don’t rely on a third-party review for the latest promo details.

Coverage

Bolt operates in 45+ countries and 850+ cities, primarily across Europe. Key markets include:

  • United Kingdom, Ireland
  • DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland)
  • Nordics (Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania)
  • France, Belgium, Netherlands
  • Spain, Portugal, Italy
  • Central & Eastern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary)
  • South Africa

Notable gaps: No coverage in the United States, Canada, Australia, or most of Asia. If your team operates in those regions, Bolt Business won’t be your primary solution.

Who Should Use Bolt Business?

Great fit:

  • Startups and SMEs with 5–200 employees in Europe
  • Companies that primarily need ground transportation and meals managed
  • Finance teams tired of chasing ride receipts
  • Event organizers who need courtesy rides for attendees
  • Companies with ESG/sustainability reporting requirements

Probably overkill or wrong fit:

  • Global enterprises already using Concur, SAP Travel, or Coupa
  • Companies that need flight + hotel booking in the same tool
  • Teams operating mainly in the US, Asia-Pacific, or Latin America
  • Teams that need an agent-driven, API-first travel expense stack (Bolt isn’t there yet)

Bottom Line

Bolt Business is the kind of tool that does one thing well instead of ten things poorly. It centralizes corporate ground transport and employee meals, eliminates receipt-based expense reporting, and gives finance teams real visibility into transportation costs. For European companies that just need rides, scooters, car rentals, and meals managed in one place, it’s genuinely hard to beat on simplicity and price.

Where it falls short is twofold: limited enterprise integrations, and a thin agent-readiness story (partner-gated API, no MCP/OKF). Those limitations are also its strength — it stays focused on what it does best.

Rating: 4.5/5 — Best-in-class for European SME ground transport. Agent Readiness: 2/7 — a real API exists but it’s not self-serve, and there’s no agent ecosystem around it yet.
